Streamlining Your Motherly Tasks: My Top 3 Tips
Motherhood comes with a myriad of tasks that can easily consume our time. My biggest time-drainers? Shopping, household cleaning, and home errands. Neglecting them for just a week can feel like a mountain of chores. So, here are my top three strategies to make motherhood chores more manageable!
1. Use Pickup Services for Groceries and Essentials
With four boys in tow, every saved minute is precious. One way I’ve reclaimed hours is by ordering my groceries and household necessities for pickup. I especially love using Walmart’s Grocery Pickup service.
Here’s why it’s fantastic:
- Time-saving: Browsing online or through the app spares me from wandering store aisles.
- Cost-effective: I avoid impromptu purchases, which often inflate my bill.
- Efficiency: Using the favorites list, I can quickly reorder regular items.
- Convenience: No need to drag heavy items or kids through the store. I simply pull up, and a helpful associate loads my trunk. I just confirm the order.
Anticipating the busy summer ahead, I’m grateful to have such a handy service. And here’s a fun tip: forgotten something? You can add items up until the day before your pickup!
Experience this for yourself by visiting grocery.walmart.com or downloading the Walmart Grocery app.
2. Intuitive Storage is Key
Time spent in searching or putting things away is often time wasted. To counter this, store items where they’re most frequently used. A simple hack I implemented was moving my boys’ dresser to our laundry room. This tweak significantly reduced the back-and-forth of dirty laundry from their bedrooms.
Now, my 10, 8, and 4-year-olds keep their clothes in the laundry room, making life so much easier. Meanwhile, my eldest, at 12, has decided to manage his laundry and clothes in his room.
To boost laundry efficiency, I also keep a foldable laundry basket neatly tucked between the washing machine and laundry room cabinets. It’s out of sight yet within easy reach.
3. Rethink and Simplify
The key is to identify unnecessary steps and remove them. For instance, I’ve ditched the meticulous folding of my kids’ clothes. Previously, I’d fold them neatly, but it wasn’t long before they rummaged through, undoing my efforts. Now? I neatly place their tops in one drawer, bottoms in another, and I’m done!
Moreover, instead of daily laundry, I’ve designated a single day of the week (for me, it’s Thursday) to do all our laundry. I find this system prevents forgetting about loads and creates a rhythmic, hassle-free routine.
Remember, it’s all about finding what works best for your family and embracing those methods wholeheartedly!
