Crafting New Memories: Family Adventures in Southern California

I’ve always cherished creating unforgettable moments with our family. While my husband dives deep into his Star Wars collection and enjoys a game of tennis, I’m passionate about crafting memories. Living in Arizona means frequent trips to Southern California for beach moments and various attractions. This time, I craved something different: sights and experiences that were fresh for our family, laying the foundation for future nostalgic conversations starting with “Remember when…”

Planning a unique trip from another state can be a challenge, but luckily, we stumbled upon “Visit Anaheim!” It led us to uncharted territories and potential memory-making spots. We’re excited to share the gems we found on this journey, hoping you can also create your own heartwarming recollections.

Our Top 5 Fresh Discoveries

1. Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament

Journey back to an era of queens, knights, and jesters. More than a show, it’s an immersive medieval escapade. We were enthralled by the jousts, the dynamic interaction between the Queen and her subjects, and the hilarious antics. The sumptuous four-course meal, enjoyed true to the medieval style (using hands!), added to the charm. The whole experience had the kids so captivated that reminders to eat were necessary! For days, the kids relived the medieval magic, sword fights included. Just a heads up – the gift shop can deck out your young knight for the next adventure!

2. Knott’s Berry Farm

The mention of Knott’s Berry Farm had my mom reminiscing about delicious fried chicken and boysenberry jams from her youth. Though initially skeptical, we were pleasantly surprised by the combination of old-world charm and thrilling rides. Four distinct zones – Camp Snoopy, Old West Ghost Town, Fiesta Village, and The Boardwalk – ensured non-stop fun. The varied dining options delighted our taste buds, especially the Boysenberry BBQ sauce at The Boardwalk BBQ. Our day ended on a thrilling note with the Ghost Rider – a ride my 10-year-old bravely conquered and later recounted with pride.

3. Splitsville

Who knew bowling could be this phenomenal? Splitsville managed to amaze our diverse age group. The luxurious layout, competitive games, and exquisite gourmet food (ranging from sushi to pizza) created an unforgettable evening. And the kids? They adored their bowling pin souvenir cups, which granted unlimited refills.

4. Pirates Dinner Adventure

Fulfilling my son’s peculiar interest in ‘Pirate’ as a foreign language, this adventure was exhilarating. The entire arena transforms into a grand pirate ship. With dynamic performances, audience participation, and delicious dining options, it was a rambunctious night of merriment. Plus, my son got to practice his pirate vocabulary!

5. Hyatt Regency Orange County

More than just a resting place, this hotel was an adventure in itself. With dual pools, on-site dining, a gift shop, and even a s’more kit available for purchase, we found ourselves immersed in activities like pickleball, shuffleboard, and more. The Hyatt Regency was a delightful discovery, proving that sometimes relaxation can be an adventure.

Venturing into new territories enriched our family bond, leaving us with cherished memories and stories for years to come.
